Red Metallic Beat

Paths are meant to cross at destiny
The antiques sing those songs along the streets.
more than ever, now I've come to see
nothing is more true than what they speak.

Words too thick with love are buried deep
like honey underground the milky shroud
They'll beat: one two, one two, until I fall
Or 'til that 'lectric courage gives me call.

Red metallic on a muscle car
shimmering like summer swelter char.
Roads to thin to go our separate ways
I'll sing you homeward if you lose the war.

From the Deathbed

At 20,
earth was satin.
at 50, it was cinder.

Now it drips like sand,
strand by strand--
the earth,
through every finger.

The Mute

I'm lighting a fire
Under my feet
Going looking for something
in the middle of the street
where the lights shine the brightest
because my quiet is too hard to beat
I cleaned up the day after drifting away
Made sure that my voice was neat
But singing of others is all I can do
I shiver at the thought of your heat

Now time has come
For this girl to be someone
Dress in her hand
just fresh on the run
Going  somewhere
where the air is so clear
and her words can find somewhere to come from

Pennies, and cowboys
asleep in my heart
Your eyes and the moonlight
can't tell them apart
You're just a boy with the world on his back
And I'm just a film with an awful soundtrack
And my trains arrived
and your eyes are dry
I didn't even cry
Until I said goodbye
I'm too quiet to tell you
I'll miss you

I always wonder
when I'm thinking out loud
Would the world have stopped spinning
If I'd shouted it out?
If I'd sang you to sleep,
And I'd promised to keep you around?
If I'd sang you to sleep,
and I'd left in the morning
without making a single sound?

Graphic Design

Drops of gin.
Peeling paint.
falling down.
and I feel faint.

Doors unlocked.
the radio.
paper talk.
a window glow.

Light a fire.
burn the bed.
rusty wire.
left for dead.

Monster thoughts.
beneath my skin.
Shed the bulk.
and climb back in.
